John Byrne Drawing Competition 2018

pexels-photo-316465.jpegI am fortunate to have been asked to support some young people in entering this competition. I spent quite some time online trying to discover how others have tackled this creative challenge over the years so I thought I would share what we did – acrostically over a 5/6 week hour lesson period. (RR – Acrostic often helps me to pull my creative thoughts into order, often provides a hook, but best not to contrive)

We used the Expressive Arts Benchmarks and Aberdeenshire Expressive Arts Curriculum Framework to formulate learning intentions, success criteria and identify skills for the children to develop and explore.

 

 

Reflections

Re: Random reflections

Important to go back and reflect, recall, recap upon experiences sometimes to recover, often to rediscover and most importantly to retrieve the best parts to create with. I think I will discover that there are most definitely recurring themes to the developments I have participated in.

If I keep returning to these, reusing them, then hopefully the best bits can be recycled.

Simple idea

Take time to look onto the surface of the water on a lake, puddle on a dull day. Lovely play to be had with the shadows projected onto the surface of the water. (Note to self – find photos taken)

 

BTW – I love this shop I had the fortunate opportunity to visit their pop up shop in Liberty some time ago.
